Plan

1. Make Emma's birthday presents: decide on what kind of doll to make, draw patterns, and start making it using some old fabric. If I need new fabric, I will have to go shopping in Spotlight.
2. Finish my old projects: butterfly, cello, angel, scarf, and Taurus charm.
3. Give back library books this week and borrow some more interesting ones.
4. Prepare to go to Auckland this weekend.
5. Babysitting on Friday.
6. Tidy up my wardrobe and room more, put things that I don't use in Salvation Army's bin.
7. Think about business ideas.
8. Find a new job in my work now, or have to apply for new position else where. Think about what to do at the end of 2008. Shall I start studying PhD or a medical degree? Is there any chance of getting a scholarship in other countries? Work overseas?
9. Set up my own finance plan, create more passive income.

I Am Legend

(Thanks to the Rotten Tomatoes)
I Am Legend is a good movie because it is a horror movie made without the conventional scary music, and for a zombie movie, the zombies look more human than ever.
Will Smith is the doctor who will not leave New York until he finds a cure for KV, a virus created to cure cancer in 10009 people. The story starts from the beginning when the virus was injected into people, and in three years time, it has mutated into a deadly virus that some people are immune to on Earth. People who are not killed by the virus become zombies that hunt healthy humans with blood thirst.
I don't understand why people who are infected have to become zombies in any zombie movies. Just like Resident Evil movies. I Am Legend is a movie about a person who will not give up on something even though all the people he loves died.
New York is transformed from a densely populated city into a ruin. I feel sad when I saw the broken Brooklyn Bridge. Wildlife takes over New York city once again, possibly escaped from New York Zoo when people are evacuated and died from the disease.
The doctor's only companion, a dog, is his only friend in the first part of the movie. He erects models with clothes and hats as his friends in a record shop. What are you going to do when the end of the humanity come? He listens to all the CD and watches a lot of DVDs when he has the time. He hunts animals, possibly for studies and food. He also hunts for zombies, with lots of success.
V for Vendetta is about a totalitarian society where people are controlled by a chancellor, and it just gives me the feeling of loneliness when V was with Evie in his lair, similar to how I feel when I watched I Am Legend. I guess people who had seen 28 Days (and the subsequent movie) will have a similar feeling. Was New York a CG? I guess it must be, with all the buildings without people, streets full of cars and grass growing everywhere, it's pretty difficult to have that in the middle of the city. They must have built a huge stage where fake fronts have been put up, too.
I remember watching The War of the World, Armageddon, Deep Impact, Children of Men and also The World After Tomorrow. Apocalypse, by definition, is revelation at the end of age. I Am Legend is definitely about Apocalypse, not in the Christian sense, but in the biological sense.
What will a world be like if there's no people? Less people are driving cars and polluting the planet so theoretically the planet will be a lot greener. It's a lot quieter, like the actress said. Time will not mean anything because we give time a meaning. Animals will roam the streets, and planets will grow whereever they like. Sun will shine, it will rain and days will be dry. Snow will still fall, and storms will come and go. Earth will still be beautiful, just without people.
This movie makes me think about the impact of human activity on Earth. I hope we are wise enough to live here and not destroy everything that we hold dear.

Goodbye, Sir Ed

(Curtesy to Scholastic)
Goodbye, Sir Ed,
I have been a New Zealander for twelve years now, and you are a hero who is respected by people in the world. You have conquered Everest, and also helped people who lives in Nepal a lot. I wish that people can continue your work.
Heroes are often unknown to the world, you are one of the exception. You have worked hard on climbing up the mountain, and also exploring the South Pole. I feel proud that you are from New Zealand, and we can all learn from you. You persevered in extremely difficult conditions, and never gave up. I think I have to keep that in mind when I am doing my scientific experiments and research.
You came to accept the Honourable Doctor of Philosophy when I got my Masters degree. I had the privilege to stand up on the stage to accept the degree with you at the same time. I was so happy! I worked very hard when I was doing the experiments and writing my thesis. I almost gave up, but I didn't. I am so glad that I completed my study.
You have had a great life on Earth, and I hope that we will do you proud, too. We will do what other people can't do here in New Zealand. One thing in particular, New Zealand is a green country that had signed the Kyoto Protocol. We can reduce our carbon emissions and help the world to combat global warming and climate change. We can all contribute to keep the environment as it is for the future generations. There will still be a snowcapped Mt. Everest to climb in the future if we work hard on this. I also think that New Zealander believes in helping the others and social justices. We will continue our effort to assist people in need all over the world, and one day that our world will be a paradise for everyone, big and small, young and old.
Goodbye, Sir Ed, we will miss you.

Level 32 I am still at the same place

Yodah and I went to kill some Warmonger Ogres and mountain lions for my quest. We grouped with someone else for ogres in a small tavern with huge ogres. Just wondering how they got the huge creatures into such a small confined space. It's becoming a bit too claustrophobic for me.
I went to Stormwind to sell the things that I've picked up from the previous day, making some money selling grey items. I got silver ore today, which is a rare item. I love my Hydrocane. Yodah and Zaraak (sorry if I spelt your name wrong) were killing the monster by Menethill Harbour. I managed to get on the boat quickly. Yodah and I walked to Tabetha's farm in the middle of nowhere and handed in the quest. I am glad that there's a road to her farm that's marked in Duskwallow now.
Just wondering what I am going to do next. I am working on getting to level 40 and getting trained up for riding a horse. That will make travel so much faster and elegant. I will travel with style.

Naughty Secretary

Naughty Secretary Club

Crafty girl with a good-looking blog that I had fun reading. You can make your own earrings and wear them. Carole and Gina made their own necklaces and skirts, now it's my term. I think I will be able to make my own doll and even make some accessories, too. I am knitting my first scarf at the moment. It looks very funny indeed. There are mistakes in the scarf! However, as this is my first try, I will finish the scarf and wear it with pride. It will be handy in winter time.
I have tidied up my wardrobe and moved the winter clothes into the other wardrobe. I am going to deal with my boss's old clothes in the future. I am thinking about either changing them into a more stylish cut, or using the material to make dolls, cushions and bags for myself. They will be reused!
Wow! Fuzzy reminded me that it is the 12th year anniversary for our family's immigration adventure. I can't believe that I have been here for 12 years already. What a great time I am having. I don't even want to leave.

My name is Luke

My name is Luke and I am a level 31 Mage human. I now reside in Hillsbrad Inn, where Horde and Alliance sometimes clash. I was in Stranglethorn Vale the other day and got killed by some Horde, but I am over that now. Hillsbrad is a beatiful village close to the sea, and there's a mine full of Yeti as well.
I own a staff that helps me to breath under water. I love this staff as I will drown normally if I stay down too long. I joined Dagobah a while back, with guild member like Yodah. I am learning a lot in World of Warcraft now with Yodah and Effervesences' help. I like travelling around on the continents and see the sights, cooking, making clothes, and now I am considering about whether herbalism is a good profession for making money or not.
My goal in life is to become an efficient Mage who is proficient in fire magic, owns a horse, then I will work hard on getting a chicken and a dragon eventually. I like to go on incidences and even been in one raid recently.
I have brown hair and change clothes when necessary. My pet is a squirrel that runs with me in the wild.
If you see me in World of Warcraft, don't forget to say hi. I will write in this diary now and again when I am not busy solving quests or working in another universe.

Raglan 2008

Richard and I went to Raglan on Saturday. We didn't take any pictures, but it was one of the happiest day of my life. We drove there with umbrella and half tent that I got from my work. I made a sandcastle, we had chips and the sand got into the sour cream and chives dip. The bread was delicious, we lazed around in the tent, napping under the afternoon sun. I love Raglan!
This is the first time that I've been to the beach with Richard. He said that his childhood memory of the beach is that he's always happy there, probably running around by the water and swimming, building sandcastles, and having lots of fun with his sisters. I miss the times that I had on the beaches in Taiwan, with dad's friends' kids, digging the dark sand and making sandcastles, and later, I would dip my legs into the waves and enjoy the cool water in the hot summers. I remember those days vividly, and no wonder everybody loves the beach.
I have nice jandals now, a brown pair with little white flowers. I also have a nice bikini with candy decorations. I have a nice pink beach bag with Hawaii pattern. I have a sarong from Thailand with elephants and looks very elegant and green. I have a nice tablecloth to sit on. I have my sunscreen to protect me from the sun. I wonder whether mum and dad remember the days when they were going out and hanging out on the beach or not, but from the stories that I've heard, they never mentioned a beach somewhere. They camped in lots of places, and went tramping together. I should ask dad whether they went to the beach or not. Mum doesn't know how to swim, so I guess it's a bit too much for her to swim in the ocean, but dad is a good swimmer.
I will go back to the beach and the swimming pool this summer. Just feel a bit cold at the moment because I am a bit weak. I will be right soon.
