Books from the library

Over the years, I have borrowed many books from the CityLibrary from Hamilton. It's a great place if you want to borrow fictions and non-fictions, but if you intend to borrow scientific magazines or books that are generally harder to read, then go to university libaray.
This week mum borrowed Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring in Chinese and The Return of the King. I think these books will a long time to read. However, because I haven't finished the English version, so I don't think I will be able to finish the Chinese version. Maybe if I am really bored, then I will be able to travel with the hobbits, elf, man, and drawf.
Some books have beautiful cover. I found a blue book with a little blue dress. I remember that there's a soldier who took Dr. Lin's book to a prisoner's camp in World War II. He had a lot of time on his hand, so the first few weeks, he enjoyed looking at the cover of the book. Then he open the book to the first page, enjoy that for several days. Then he starts reading the story, and immerse himself in the beautiful literary extravangaza until his release. If you have a lot of time on your hand, maybe you should follow the Australian soldier's footstep and enjoy books like he did.
Of course, we are blessed with peaceful time, but because everyone seems to be busy doing something, we lost the freedom to read without interuption.
This week I have borrowed two romantic stories, one short crime stories, the blue book, Rober Ludlum book, and a book by Malaysia author.
I discovered that I don't like to read the bookcover summary anymore. They spoil my mood for the story. Sometimes, I lost interest altogether and stop reading the book. Such a shame. So now I avoid reading the summary. Some are well written, so I don't mind reading them. Otherwise I just turn to the first page and start reading from there.
The weather is extremely well today, but after the exertion of walking with mum's library books, I don't want to do any more exercise anymore.

Fast and slow fills my life

Today starts slowly as I drag myself out of bed. Didn't want to eat much for breakfast, so only had a bowl of cereal. Leave home at eight pass eight. Try to sing in the traffic and get to the laboratory to read my plates.
The experiment went pretty well considering it was my first go. I have finally killed some bugs! Cool. This means that I can write my thesis! Haha. Of course I will have to repeat my experiment today, but that should be easy. As long as I am inhibiting the growth of masitis-causing pathogens, I am on the right track.
After counting the plates, which takes an hour, I inoculate new cultures and leave the laboratory. Start listening to music on my computer in the office and talk to my mate. She is not doing much, but will go out shopping. Everyone seems to be going to summer school in university or working right now, but my friends are doing masters degree. Not many people I know are doing nothing, even my parents are busy. Mum was gutting and cleaning fish last night. She will be able to get some rest this weekend, partly because dad's fed up with fishing, and partly because we are going to the New Year Celebration on Sunday. We can probably have Saturday to ourselves. Don't know what I will be doing, but will keep you posted.
I carry out the repeat experiment around 11:00a.m. till 1:00p.m. Left work after that. Have turnip cake as lunch and drive very fast toward university. Meet another mate in the computer lab. He is writing up his thesis. His research will finish in the middle of the year because he completed his degree in the middle of 2003. So this means that he will complete his degree half a year earlier than us. We get another friend (a girl from my lab) to coffee in The Grind. The coffee shop is closing up. It has been a slow afternoon for them, I suppose. We talk about what we have done for the summer holiday. K2 went to Haho and lived in a caravan park. L, the girl from my lab, stayed home. However, she is going to her boyfriend's mum's marriage. Apparently, his mother is re-marrying a guy who has a flash house. She showed us her French manicured nails. Good ones. Very good at making herself pretty. K2 also went to a wedding in the weekend. It seems to me that many people are getting married. Probably because it's summer time and flowers are blooming. The weather is well today, but it rained for a while in the morning.
Hang out with J in the afternoon. She is still working for the university on the course material. All will be revealed to students in Computer Graphics soon.
What is my sister doing? I wonder. Can't use instant messenger on this computer. Anyway, hope everyone are having a good day. People who are not, hope your day gets better and better.

The importance of living: you are living for yourself

Yes. If you are content and happy about your own life, you can help your friends to be happy and content about their life.
I asked my friend if she wants to watch a movie with me, but she didn't reply. I took my sister to watch "The Flight of Phoneix" and had a lot of fun. People often try to go out with people who will never go out with them, and ignore the fact that the person who will go out with you is standing right in front of you.
Our guinea pig sitting days are over. Dad took the guinea pig back yesterday because the family who owns it are back. Their mother promised that she will be back around 29 of January, but she is not. Her kids do not want to take care of the animal, but my dad put his foot down.

Any given Sunday: nothing happened

Standing in a dark corner, I look on as the weekend unfolds before me. Maybe I will look back ten years from now and realise that I have been a big fool this weekend, but I don't care. I always live life to the fullest and never regret what I have done.
The weather is extremely well. I leave home with a heavy heart because truly, I am in unfamiliar territory. The first uncertain thing is that I don't know that if we will succeed or fail in making glutinous rice ball. Thank god that we had no problem in making the turnip cake! At least that's delicious. The second uncertain thing is that I don't know if my friend's brother is going to hate me or like me. I am pretty sure that he doesn't hate me, but I hope he likes me.
However, the day passed without too much hassle. I was worrying for no reason what so ever.
We started with the glutinous rice ball soup. I brought two chicken leg pieces and threw it into boiling water. Wash them with boiling water so there's no blood or dirty residues. I made a very clean salty soup from these. Nice and easy. S, the girl who is flying back to China, came late but nevertheless helped make the glutinous rice ball. She was very good at making the rice dough. Me and my friend's brother and S made small cute white balls on the table top. Of course, the brother had to make some weird funny shaped balls. He also stuck his head in the fridge because it was too hot. Hahahaha.
I fried the vegetable, tofu with soy bean sauce. Add a dash of salt and it is ready to eat.
Sweet glutinous rice ball is better than the salty ones, so I let my friend's brother make some for himself. We settled down to have our lunch, and talked and talked. It was a great afternoon. I found out a lot of my friends and her brother.
His mother doesn't want to take care of her grandchildren. She doesn't want to have anything to do with grandchildren, so I was not surprised when he informed me that he doesn't want children or marriage. Hahahahaha. What's that got to do with me? You are not even asking me out. Why are you telling me this? I don't know. I don't understand anyway. S told us that she is very good at making "cloud" dumpling. Cool. Next time she should make some so we can eat together.
After lunch, we had some ice cream and me and the brother went out for a stroll. S left without saying much because she was going to church.
General talking with K is fine. He told me that he wants to be a real estate agent after he graduate. That doesn't come as a big shock because he is taking a real estate agent course with his sister. They are going to take an examination for the license. It's a great profession! One of my friend is selling houses. He also asked me if I want to get married and have kids, etc. Yes to both questions. Why not? But that's down the track. I don't have a boyfriend yet. Why worry now? He also asked me when do I want to get married. Well, that's easy. I don't mind getting married tomorrow. I am totally ready, but is he ready? No. If anybody ready to marry me? No. It's not easy to ask anyone to get married, but once you are ready, then it's a simple matter of getting everything organised. To me, marriage is a simple thing. The life that comes after marriage is the hard part. To be together and solve the troubles in life is the fun part.
I stayed behind when my friend went to church with her mum. Made tea and I talked a little bit more with this guy. Sister was bored, so she came to swim with us. Guy's neighbour turned up. We all swam in a small pool. The kid's parents (neighbour) had to leave, and we left shortly after.
In the evening, my sister told me that her classmate probably went out with this guy before. They had a serious fall out and had both been burned by relationship. Anyway, I am not going to ask him about this. He is not asking me out, and I reckon that we can only be friends. When he is ready to committ, then he can choose one who is suitable for his taste, no matter who this girl is.
I don't care anymore. I will try to forget how good he is. Or how bad he is.
