Secret past

Watched LOST last night. Every week you find out more about the character's past. If you have taped it on video then don't read on because I am going to talk about what happened.

Lock's past was quite unpleasant. His mother came to visit after absence all his life to tell him that he has a father, who is a well off hunter. His father lives in a grand manor that has a security guard at the door. He was a cruel man. We see that he made friend with his son and tricked Lock into giving his kidney to him. He then refused to see Lock.
On the island, Lock and Boom are having difficulties opening the large chest they found in the forest. However, Lock has a dream where he sees a plane crashing into the forest and Boom telling him that Terresa fell down the stairs. Terresa, Boom's nanny, fell down the stairs when he was young. Lock and Boom explore the forest to find a body of a Nigerian priest, who owns a gun and large amount of cash. They miraculously find the plane above a tree. Boom gets injured when the plane crash landed.
Sawyer gets headaches. Kate takes him to Jack so he can get his head checked. Quite funny when Jack asked him about STD. The patient's problem is far sightedness. Sayed made him a pair of glasses (what a great engineer) by soldering the plastic glasses together.
The episode ends with Lock bringing Boom back to camp, broken and bloody. He cries in front of the chest, but we see that the chest is finally opened with light coming out.
Interesting. Next week Claire is going to give birth and Boom is dying. What will really happen? What's in the chest?
LOST has done pretty well considering it is a story set on a tropical island, not the usual interesting places like planets in the outer space. It is a story about the life of a bunch of people. Their past influence strongly how they are living their life on the island. They came to Australia for different reasons, but what brings them together is that plane crash. There are some speculations about whether the crash actually happened and this whole program may just be some guy's/girl's dream. Who knows, and I don't really care if that's the case. We are having a great time learning the character's past, their life on the island, and possibly their future. Jack's father left America to get away from his life as an alcoholic surgeon. He goes to Australia to find his father who had died there. Kate is on the run from killing her love of life. Hurley has won Lotto, but bad luck follows him around with the mysterious numbers. Claire broke up with her boyfriend after getting pregnant. She talked to a psychic, who sends her to Los Angeles to find parents who will adopt her baby. However, he knows that her plane is going to crash so he sent her on this fateful tour. Charlie lied to his girlfriend about being a successful rock star. He stole and was addicted to crack, unable to work, he left for good. Sun and Jin are a married couple from Korea. Sun is doing Jin's father's dirty job, threatening his workers to deliver otherwise they will be murdered in cold blood. Unable to deliver the forceful message, Sun is forced to beat his father-in-law's worker up to stop a massacre. He leaves Jin in the previous episode because she had humiliated him. Sawyer wanted to revenge for his mother's death, but ended up killing the wrong man. Sayed was a soldier in Iraq. He was in love with his childhood friend, but had to interogate and kill her because they are on different sides. He is dating Shannon at the moment. She also has a past with strings of failed relationships. Can they find new life on the island? Will they build a ship so they can come back to civilization? Will they find the secrets on the island? The characters are who they are because they had a life before and as the show goes on we find not only what is going on now, but we find what happened to them before. The seemingly relax and peaceful island is full of secrets and danger. Hope they will be make it.
Just chatted with friends in the ROC meeting. Maybe going to Rotorua this weekend.
Experiment is going ok. Tomorrow will be able to get more data.

I think you have a really good analysis of the TV programme. I wish I could watch it this week. I probably will... Looking forward to study week. (Not...) Actually it wouldn't be so bad : )
