This Wednesday I went to watch Superman Returns. Do you remember Superman? He is the ultimate hero, the guy who can fly, gets power from the sun, makes fire/freezes materials, good and honest. He is also Clark Kent, the clumsy, down-to-earth reporter. I think this movie exceeds my expectation, especially the sequence where he saves the passengers on the airplane and the crew in the spacecraft.
You have to remember that Superman is a fantasy, so when he defies laws of physics, you have to forgive the movie maker. He has many powers, but is not a telepathic person, so Lois Lane has to send direction via fax to the Daily Planet.
The villan, Lex Luthor, is also very well played by Kevin Spacey. He is intimidating and evil.
After five years away from Earth, Superman returns to a planet where people who still wish someone will save them. Earth still needs Superman. Lois is still her indepedent self, with an asthmatic son. It is later revealed that he also has superpower! Are we going to see a new generation of Superman in the next movie? I hope so, if the next one is as good as this one.
