Richard and I went to get a rose tree from Wairere Nursery on lunchtime yesterday. I was excited about getting the rose, and we went to Mitre 10 Mega and the Warehouse to find pots. I found a blue pot that is decorated with leaves and Richard got another one (navy blue/dark blue) for free. We also found the dishes that will go underneath the pots. We walked in Mitre 10 Mega for exercise and got potting mix in the garden section. I spent some time looking at other beatiful flowers in the section, enjoying the garden that the shop created for a while. The bronze statues were quite interesting to look at, too.
Richard planted the rose into the new pot after we got home. He straightened the roots out, which will help their growth, and watered the potting mix once he put them into the pot. There are about twenty flowers on the tree still so we have our growing rose in the garden now!
Bevan proceeded to pick the zucchini in the garden. We believe that we can sell them to the porn stars and they can make very suggestive movies about the massive plants. Those zucchini have grown into marrows so according to Bevan, they don't taste so well. I think they look fine, but I don't know whether they are good to eat or not. Maybe they have to pick the young zucchini when they are smaller so they taste better? I have no idea. However, when you are growing plants, you always want to grow it until it's big and juicy, don't you? You don't really want to pick them when they are normal size. I guess that's the problem here.
I wonder how the roses are looking now, must check them out when I get to Richard's place.
The girls went to have lunch using the vouchers that we won from the 10,000 steps challenge. I have a chicken fillet burger with pineapple juice, it was tasty but not so big. It's a healthy meal! I think this is probably the only restaurant in Hamilton that serve meals that you can eat without feeling guilty. Good choice from work, they certainly know where to go when it comes to healthy eating. Healthy workers means healthy profit for the company, and happy workers means loyalty and satisfaction at work.
