We have finally left our little town, Hamilton, and ventured out to the big wide world. After a week of wet weather, Saturday turned out to be the best day of the week, with no cloud in sight, and a slight breeze, we had finally been blessed with good weather.
We had so much fun in the car. In order to occupy our vocal cords, we sang songs until our heads start to ache. We sang the Barbie song from Aqua, Dr. Jones song from the same band, Savage Garden songs, Ricky Martin, and many more. The coconut song was so funny! I love it.
We had car trouble, but everyone we asked yesterday reassured us that it's going to be fine.
The car past through the green tunnel, then we arrived at the best stop in New Zealand. The ice cream idea was abandonned because we were too cold, we had pies and filos for lunch instead. We talked about men, like which nationality and what kind are better, and also about getting married and divorced. I felt a bit like watching Sex and the City all over again.
The emu was very friendly, I fed it some grass. It was not afraid of me. I am so happy!
We got to Rotorua township eventually after filling up gas, tyres, scare of air conditioning making funny noises, and the fiasco about engine oil. Ruth was waiting there in the Information Centre all by herself. We had blonde moments when trying to find the information centre, and trying to find a park close to it proved to be a challenge since there was many car in the weekend in town. We started hugging one another just in front of the crowd. They must thought we are some kind of crazy people and we didn't care. We found that we didn't have to pay for parking after all! Oops, but we already put 50 cents into the machine. How silly!
We drove to Lake Rotorua. It was so beautiful! We took crazy funny pictures there, looking seriously calm and collected as a result. You wouldn't believe how loud we were. There was a fair, and I saw my workmate Murray walking with his wife when we drove off to the Gondola.
Fuzzy, Ruth and I had so much fun on the luge. The way down is just as magneficient as the way up. I saw the lake in full view, and the town was pretty, too. It must be because we weren't travelling with our parents, and I could forget about work completely. We were so carefree! I was scared of heights, and the gondola stopped in mid-air. Everyone was a bit freaked out.
The spa was very relaxing, and the view was worth a million dollars. We rented a private spa so nobody can see us. It was warm and steamy, smelt of sulphur. My muscles were completely relaxed. I watched the seagulls and the stars in the sky. They were so beautiful.
The girls made a decision to have BK. We pigged out on burgers and chips and deserts. It was such a nice ending of a fun day. We had to open our window to prevent fogging up because there was no air conditioning. It was freezing!
I am so happy today because Rotorua has never been such a fun place and I want to go back next time.
