Chong Jin

Spent the day editing my thesis. This work seems to be endless. No, I will march on. I know I can do it. The broken "N" key on my computer keeps annoying me, though. I don't really think it can be fixed. It just has to be put back to its place every time it is broken.
Mum, Fuzzy and I went to the supermarket together. I chose a raspberry ice cream. We bought lots of different fruit as well.
I spent the evening watching the last few episodes of Chong Jin the Korean tv show. She has become a very successful woman doctor in the palace right now. We are also treated with the love scene between her and her friend, Min. Hope they will get together soon, however, the king seems to be falling in love with her. I guess that's bound to happen. She is beautiful, intelligent, and hard-working, and he is the man who can get anything and anyone he wants.
Dad has taken the car to get the Warrant of Fitness (WOF) today. I will wait for him to pick me up at the end of the work day.

Dreams and reflection

It became very cold in the weekend and I caught a cold. Running nose and headache forced me to stay home last morning. Felt much better after sleeping in, and drank 3 cups of water. I went to work in the afternoon, and discovered that my boss came even after me.
Mum and dad have watched the Korean series completely, but I haven't. I will do that this week. It is a good series. We watched Kung Fu Hustel on DVD: it was so funny! Stephen Chow is a legend.
My dreams were about friends from the past. They all looked exactly the same in my dreams as before: I am sure they have all grown up and look different now. I dreamt that I have missed taking an exam, and by the time I reached the exam room, I only have 30 seconds to complete the exam. >_< However, the second part of the dream was good. I met Dark Angel at work. He is cooking. We went home together. I will leave the other parts to your imagination, but it is facinating and fun.
Oh, I miss you, Dark Angel. What are you doing? Are you working, or are you playing? All I want for Christmas is you, Dark Angel. I wouldn't mind dreaming about you again.

Harry Potter and the Riverside Walk

You have seen the trailer. You have read the news. You have seen the pictures of the young wizards. Now it is the time to watch the movie: Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. We are familiar with the story, but the movie is still amazing. It is harder to face girls who travel in packs than fighting fire-breathing dragons.
The movie theatre is packed with children and parents. It is really crowded. I come out of the theatre feeling unwell and rigid.
I have spent most of the weekend reading The Lord of Silent by Elizabeth Peters. Why does Egyptology facinates people? Is it because of the treasure and the gold promises buried in the sand? Is it because that the stories on the wall in the tombs are interesting? Is it because of the mummies? Maybe it is about all of the above, and so much more. It is also about the people who are excavating and stealing the treasures.
The weather improves on Sunday so we set out tramping on the Riverside walkway. We identify some of the trees beside the river. Letting the bikeriders pass safely is not easy. It is a great exercise for the body and the scenary is great. We have seen three groups of people on boats, and several koi carp fish in the river. Dad has never been able to catch them, though.

Flightplan and million dollar baby

I tried to work very hard in the morning and send the finished product to my yahoo mailbox for the afternoon. Drive up to the movie theatre and catch Flightplan even though I know that Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire will be on tomorrow. Just can't help it: feeling very restless.
Flightplan is a very weird film. It has strang plotline: you don't know what is happening until the end. I don't understand why that someone will go to this extraordinary length to blow up an airplane. He had to kill the husband, kidnapped the daughter with the danger of being seen by other passenger, and bring the explosive in the coffin of the husband. However, the movie creates a scary atmosphere. I keep thinking that the Captain will help the woman more, but he didn't.
Million Dollar Baby is also a different movie with unexpected ending. Maggie Fitzgerald is out to do the impossible. The most important thing is to protect yourself. The last part of the film is quite sad.
The weather continues to be unseasonal today. It is very cloudy and threatens to rain. Where is the sun? It is supposed to be sunny and warm! For some reason, my back hurts.

Movie: My sons

I went to watch a Japanese movie in the university called My sons. An old man, Mr. Asano, has two sons and a daughter. He is a widower living in Iwate Perfecture, a place where you can see the mountain and very quiet and clean. His sons live in Tokyo. Tetsu, the younger son, cannot hold a job for very long. However, moving steel rods seems to agree with him. He is promoted from a part-time worker to a temporary worker with health and injury insurance. He meets a deaf-mute girl in a steel production factory and falls in love with her.
Mr. Asano comes to Tokyo in winter time to visit his elder son. This son asks him to come and live with them in the small apartment, but Mr. Asano refuses and bravely says that he is not afraid of dying alone in the country. He attends the reunion for soldiers with his friends from the army, sings the war song with his old comrades.
He is too worried about his younger son, so he goes to visit him before he leaves for the country. The younger son introduces him to his girlfriend, buying him a fax machine so the deaf-mute girl can write short letters to him. Mr. Asano has doubts about his younger son's seriousness of marrying this girl, drink beer and sing the song from old times.
The generation gap between young and old is large, but it is essential for the young people to spend some time with the old people. They can teach us a lot of things. I like this film, it is very relevant and reminds me of my grandfather.
