Summer party

Richard and I put up a summer party at Bevan and Hailie's place. He moved the foosball table out so the boys can have fun, and people played badminton. We had a pirate and summer theme, but not a lot of people came in theme. Bronwyn, Lin-yi, and Hester were good help, carrying plates in and out of the kitchen and tidying up. We were in happy party mood, talking with our friends and drinking lots of soft drinks and juice. Rachel and Nick brought their own red wines, and Cory was on his super hot red bike. I really like it. He said that it's a 1000c.c. bike, it must go very fast on the road.
Mike is living with his friends, Mike and his wife a few blocks away, and he's moving to Melville on Sunday. He ate a lot of vegetables. Hamish brought his cute dog Tessa with him. She's barking at all the strangers that came through the door. Naomi and her partner also showed up, I haven't seen her for a while. It must have been in Masters class.
Kelly and Mark looked at our Europe picture on Richard's computer. They really like them. I talked with Hester and Lin-yi. I didn't know that Lin-yi has a PhD. She's not so busy at Genesis, but I guess she has her busy days and not so busy days, just like my job. Hester is waiting for permanent residence to come through, fingers crossed for her application.
Adrian told us about his escapdes when he was in primary school, climbing over electrical fences and walking up the road. It was quite funny hearing how he returned because he was very hungry. He also talked about beautiful actresses that made Erin not so happy, but after all, they are celebrities and Erin doesn't really have to worry about Adrian running after them in real life!
Our pirate ship was not so big, but I had fun making it, painting it and gluing some parts together. Bevan helped me to glue the parts together while I was making a salad.
Richard cleaned up most of the mess afterwards, and Haylie was there to tidy up as well. Thank you, guys. I got there and heated up the old meat in the fridge for lunch. There's still salad to be eaten.
Richard and I had fun in World of Warcraft, making two characters in different factions and tried to learn the language. It was quite funny. Luke went to Tanaris and we took Annar with us questing. He was grounded for having a c in Civics and not doing enough chores.
Coke exploded in the fridge and we had a clean up. I made a pizza for Richard, and I think Bevan wants to eat it, but Haylie said no, it had chicken that's not free range on it! Poor Bevan. Oh, well, that's just the way it is.
I got up feeling sleepy, but it's time to get to work. I look forward to work today because I am doing something new. I want to learn new techniques.

Radioactive materials

I've been cleaning up the radioactive lab with a bunch of people yesterday. It was hard work because the room was quite dirty, we had to sweep the floor, mopped it, and wiped all the surfaces. Kelly swabbed places that could be contaminated and we tried to read them on a scintallation meter, but the first one didn't print out the correct numbers, and the second one take different kind of tubes. We will have to go
back and read the samples again today.
Allan threw away most of his group's probes because they have used a lot of them in the past few years. We took the high level waste to the basement and put the bag in a large drum. We didn't bring the monitor with us yesterday, and there's a pile of rubbish on the ground. We will have to come back with the monitor, and get rid of the bags later into mediwaste if they don't have high level of radiation anymore.
People do Northern blog experiments in the radiation lab, and possibly also bind carbon and tritium to the tissues (carbon dating? I am not sure). People who have left AgResearch long ago still have probes lying around in the lab, and the half life of these materials are 5000 years so you can't really dispose them now.
I felt so tired when I get to Richard's place. I went shopping after work, it was fun. I tried to buy very healthy food and put groceries into the fridge after I've cooked dinner.
I went to a new battleground in world of warcraft yesterday. The most important thing is to stay alive and cause lots of damage, but I guess I am not very good at frostnovaing people and blink away, which I should have done, and also put on counterspell and mana shield. I am learning a lot, though. Warsong Gulch is actually quite similar to Arathi Basin, with its own lumber mill and farm. I have to work together with the people who I don't know, and that's hard. I don't know how to fight, so it's difficult to keep up with them. However, all the things I do in world of warcraft is learning. I just have to learn to be a better fire mage. I love battles because it's fast and I get an adrenalin rush out of it. It's frustrating to be low level when a lot of other people are level 49, but it's ok. Just expect to die a lot.
Richard said that Yodah had died more than 10000 times. Life is a bit cheap in the world of warcraft.

Happy New Year

I spent a lot of time tidying up my room and the house with Fuzzy and mum. I tidied up all the drawers for the desk in my bedroom, and also tidy up my wardrobe. I have made a small mess on my office desk, but I can tidy it up today when I get home, or in the weekend. It will not be difficult.
I've been reading Rich Woman when I have time, and it is quite useful. I have made some calculation about how much money I spend in a month, and I have joined the KiwiSaver scheme. The worst scenario is that the investment company may not do a very good investment, and I will lose some money, but when I turn 65, I will have money in the bank. I will do my own investment and saving for myself, too. I will then have two lots of money when I retire. Richard and I have made a plan for retiring early, but that's if we make enough passive income in a few years time, and that means I will still be able to put money into my KiwiSaver account in IRD. I have to choose a KiwiSaver provider, and leaning towards choosing ING now. Steve said that he's also in ING, but he chose the one with lower fee. I am not sure who I want to choose yet, and maybe I will choose another one. I am looking at the large and reliable ones at the moment.
Mum cooked a lot of food for the reunion dinner. Richard and I watched Eat Drink Men Women in the afternoon, which is an exceptionally good movie. I planted some new flowers in the garden, and did some weeding.
We talked about what people do for Chinese New Year. You have to cut your hair or shave before the New Year. Send away the Stove God with candy. You have to cook fish, chicken, duck, meat, and make rice cake for the family. If the cake rises high, then you will have a good year. Richard looked up the custom, you have to open your doors and windows so luck will come in. Fuzzy said you can't tidy your house tomorrow otherwise luck will run out of your house. You are only allowed to sweep into your house! You have to wear new clothes, or red clothes for luck. We eat dumplings, cut mince on a board to scare away the Nian monster. We also let off fireworks to scare off the monster. What fun!
We get a long holiday for the New Year, and on the fifteenth day, there's a lantern festival. People go to the temple to see lanterns of every shape, colour and sizes. They meet and talk, and eat rice balls in soup, the same shape as the full moon.
I feel that this year is going to be a good year.
This morning dad said that I have lost a small black tip for the aerial of my gray car, but I have no idea that he put it on. Mum feels that he's a bit weird, too. However, he managed to find the black tip, so we are off the hook. He is going to superglue the tip on this time so it will not fall off.
Happy New Year, everybody.

Horse

I am finally level 40, and Yodah gave me gold so I can buy a horse straight away. I have chosen a chestnut horse, and got enchanted gloves and spurs on my boots now. Yodah said that I can get a carrot on a stick, the other thing that I can use to speed up my steed, but it is very good right now. I can ride the horse and go places faster than walking and running.
I have completed almost all the quests in Duskwallow Marsh, and obtained 30 talent points to spend. I will think about how to spend them, and level up my tailoring. I think I will also learn herbalism later, but maybe I should learn enchanting instead? It is very useful.

Level 39 and Duskwallow Marsh

Luke is level 39! I have come very far from level 1 by questing a lot in Westfall, Shimmering Flats, Arathi Valley, and now I have been to Scarlet Monastry with Yodah twice, Arathi Basin war twice, and Stockades twice. I have strong fire power against other creatures, frost nova to stop enemies from moving, putting them to sheep to delay fighting, and blink to escape from harms way. I have died many times, been attacked by Horde and survived by running away, and I am happy about my progress.
I am still not able to get a horse yet, but in the next few days, I will become level 40 and I will be able to ride a horse. Yay!
My friend Effervesence is already level 40+ so she can ride a tiger. She can turn into a bear, a cat, a leopard, and a sealion (not sure what it is). I like my Hydrocane because if I wield it, I can stay underwater without worrying about breathing.
I will level up my tailoring and cooking after I get to level 40.
